The Barbados Youth Business Trust
The Trust provides the much needed service of turning good ideas into
good business and the program is open to those aged between 18 – 35.
Physically challenged applicants with good business ideas are
especially encouraged to let the Trust help them to make their dream
become a reality. The BYBT is a registered Charity No. 271 and duly
registered as a benevolent organization under the Income Tax Act.
BYBT Objectives
To foster the concept of self-employment and the spirit of enterprise in the Nation’s Youth.
To introduce young entrepreneurs to sources of business expertise through an advisory network.
To extend financial assistance, directly or indirectly, to young entrepreneurs.
To complement other youth programs sponsored by private/public sector institutions.
To offer direction to those better suited to employment.
BYBT Structure
Trustees
The affairs of the Barbados Youth
Business Trust are managed by Trustees whose number is not less than
three or more than seven. They hold office for an initial period of
three years.
Executive Council
The principal
role of the Executive Council is to undertake the work of the Trustees
between meetings, providing support and guidance to the Manager. It
comprises not less than five (5) and not more than nine (9) members
with a one-year renewable term.
The Office of the Manager
The
Trust’s daily business is administered through the Office of the
Manager. It is the center where loan applications are received,
processed, disbursed and monitored and where all the various facets of
the program are coordinated. It also focuses on ongoing relationships
with public and private sector Youth Organizations, Public Relations
and Fund Raising and reporting the Trust’s activities to the Board of
Trustees.
